OBITUARY MILDRED FLOYD STICKLEY


Mildred Floyd Stickley of Starkville, Mississippi died at Oktibbeha County Hospital on October 24, 2014. She was a native of Lexington, Virginia. The daughter of the late Robert Henry Floyd and Julia Hartless Floyd, she had lived throughout the northeast and south and had retired in Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen R. Stickley, Jr.

Mrs. Stickley was a graduate of Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Virginia and a graduate of Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was a retired medical record professional from Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

She was an avid bridge player and worked at least two crossword puzzles each day. She had friends throughout the states she had resided in, and loved to travel. She was active in many clubs, the First Presbyterian Church and a hospital auxiliary volunteer for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Heather Stickley Cable of Olive Branch, MS (Frank) and Holly Stickley Crystal of Jackson, MS (Bucky); a grandson, Reed Allan Cable; and sisters Meta F. Loudermilk, Akron, OH, Alice F. Myers, Columbus, OH; Louise F. Weber, Gahanna, OH; Magdalene F. Traster, Reynoldsburg, OH, Eula F. Wade, Richboro, PA and Peggy F. Blankenship, Carmichael, CA. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Starkville, Mississippi Monday, October 27, 2014, with a memorial service following at 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be in the Floyd family plot in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista, VA in November 2014. The ashes of her deceased husband, Allen R. Stickley, Jr. will be buried with her.
