James Edward Springer, Jr. (known to many as "Doodle"), passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his home in Starkville, MS. He was born in Birmingham, AL January 28, 1952.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Springer, Sr.

Jimmy leaves his mother, Melba Barnes Springer of Starkville, MS; aunts Emma Kate Barnes Manning of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; uncle, Floyd Barnes of West Point, MS; aunt and uncle, Joe and Rubye Barnes Wray of West Point, MS; and a number of cousins.

Jimmy graduated from Davidson High School in Mobile, AL, and then attended South Alabama College. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He had worked as a representative for Electrical Supplies Sales.

His heart, like his father's, was in Mississippi State. He moved with his parents to Starkville, MS this past year to be close to the college he loved and the "Bulldogs". Jimmy was an active member of the Alumni Association and the Bulldog Club.

His dream was to see his "Bulldogs" victorious! He was looking forward to the next games of the season and to yell "Go Dogs"!
