Marian Adella Godwin Sistrunk
1924-2015

Mrs. Marian Sistrunk was born on September 27, 1924 in rural Marion County, FL. She was born to the union of Marion Roy and Maggie Priest Godwin. She died on February 8, 2015, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Sistrunk was predeceased by her son Dr. Michael Sistrunk, her ex-husband, Dr. Walter E. Sistrunk, her granddaughter Adrienne Adele Rimer and her only sibling Roy Edsel Godwin, who had moved from Ocala, FL to Starkville to live with his sister.

She leaves to cherish her memories her five surviving children: Kathryn (Dean) Rimer of Moss Point; Dr. David (Marianna) Sistrunk of Kosciusko; Carlos (Nancy) Sistrunk and Walter (Carolyn) Sistrunk both of Starkville; and Brenda (Cameron) Landry of Oakville, Ontario Canada. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville with the funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Dr. William Giles Lindley, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Starkville. He will be assisted by family friend and former pastor Rev. Prentiss Gordon. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Park.

Pallbearers are grandsons, David L. and Shannon Sistrunk of Guntown and Saltillo; Michael, Neill, and Brady Sistrunk of Starkville and great-grandson Trey Collins from Hurley, MS.
