Obituary for Harvey Wilson

Mr. Harvey Wilson, 99, passed away on Thursday, February 12th, 2015, at the Attala County Nursing Home in Kosciusko, MS. Visitation will be held at Wake Forest Baptist Church in Sturgis, MS, on Saturday, February 14th, 2015, from 10:00am until 11:00 am. There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 am with Pastor David Lman officiating.

Mr. Wilson was born September 10th, 1915 to John Wesley and Flonnie Bell Wilson. He was a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church and a farmer after returning from WWII. He was considered a hero by his family, surviving 7 beach landings while serving in the Pacific. He was in the 7th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion where he earned a Bronze Star. He was a man of strong will and even stronger faith who loved people and was always ready to lend a hand when needed.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his daughter, Glenda Pickle and husband Larry Pickle of Kosciusko, MS; Granddaughter, Ginger Hearne and husband John Hearne of Pontotoc, MS; Nephews, Bruce Vice and Charles Holiday; Nieces, Katheryn Williams, Sandra Law, Barbra Blair, and Venitta Sanders.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Ray-Wilson; Brother, Elmer Wilson; Sisters, Mary Holiday, Velma Vice, and Inez Gilreath.

Serving as pallbearers are: Mark Coleson, David Oswalt, Jimmy Franks, Ralph Jackson, Robert Blair, and James Law. Memorials may be given to: Wake Forest Baptist Church of Sturgis, MS, French Camp Academy of French Camp, MS, or LeBonheur Children's Hospital of Memphis, TN.
