Obituary for Wick P. Malone

Wick P. Malone a life long resident of Starkville, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oxford. He was 83. Wick was a life-long resident of Starkville. He was the son of the late William W. and Tessie Quinn Malone of Osborn. Preceding him in death were his sisters Odessa Jones, Louise Ringold, Masie Davis and Doris Bowen, brothers James W. Malone and Morris Malone. He is survived by his wife June of Oxford, daughter Carla Malone Eaves of Starkville, grandchildren- Jason Striebeck of Starkville and Claire Eaves (Michael) Patterson of Cedar Bluff. Sister- Eva (Jim) Deen of Camarillo, Calif. Step Children: Janis Baker and John Lagrone of Oxford, and Ricky (Debbie) Lagrone of Brookhaven. Step Grandchildren- Jeremy and Will Baker and Abby, Catie and John Allen Lagrone all of Oxford, and Chad (Katie) Lagrone of Daphne, AL and 2 great grandchildren.

He served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War, 1950-1955. He also owned and operated Highway 25 Garage for many years before starting his own lawn care business for which he worked until the age of 80. He was an avid deer and coon hunter. He was a member of Talking Warrior Coon Hunting Club for many years and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville and on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 12-1 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Jason Green. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Park.
