Carol H. LaCoss Kidd

Carol Hiersche LaCoss Kidd died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at the Starkville Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was 80 years old. Though she lived the last 5 years in Starkville, Carol had been a long time resident of both Madison and Clinton, MS. Carol was born in Geary, OK, on August 17, 1934, the elder daughter of Maurice and Edith Hiersche. She is survived by her daughter, Lori LaCoss Arinder, Lori's husband Grant, and two grandchildren, Garison and Abigail, all of Starkville, MS, and her current husband, George Kidd, of Mustang, OK. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Olson of Rio Rancho, NM, and six nieces and nephews: Leeann, Walter, Kevin, Kerry, Kim, and Michael, all of whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. LaCoss, and both of her parents.

A graduate of the nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK, Carol went on to receive both a bachelor's and a master's of nursing. She served as a professor of nursing at University of Mississippi Medical Center until she retired. She was an active member of several United Methodist congregations and enjoyed participating with multiple medical mission teams to Honduras. Carol loved to travel and visited many countries, but her favorite past time was visiting with her family members in Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 2, at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00, with the funeral immediately following. Rev. Jim Ormon will preside. Graveside service and burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Lakewood Cemetery in Clinton, MS, with Dr. Grant Arinder presiding. Memorials may be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church, Starkville Missions Fund.
