Darrell Lester Bland
Mr. Darrell Lester Bland, 61, retired U.S. Navy Reserve, died November 22, 2015 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Born October 31, 1954 in Salina KS, second child of Francis Lavern Bland and Imelda Zane (South) Bland of Cumberland Mississippi. He is the second of five children – three boys and then two girls.
Visitation will be 5:00PM until 8:00PM Friday 11/27/15 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.
Funeral Services will be 10:00AM Saturday 11/28/15 at the Starkville Church of Christ with burial in Bland Family Cemetery in Webster County. Mr. Bland will lie in state in the church Saturday, from 9:30AM until time of services.
He is survived by his spouse of more than 40 years, Donna Bland; two sisters, Deanna (Bob) Lovelace, Maben MS and Denessa (Doug) Kahn, Holmdel NJ; one brother; David (Peggy) Bland, Boaz AL; one sister in law, Denise Hudson, Portland TN; three children, Michael (Rhonda) Bland, Valley Park MS; Joy (Eddie) Cuellar Gulfport MS; and Richard Bland, Starkville MS; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Daylin Cuellar.
Mr. Bland served in the U.S. Air Force and then the U.S. Navy Reserve for over twenty years and he was a member of the Starkville Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Lavern Bland; his mother, Imelda Bland; and his brother, Donald Bland.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
