Obituary for Rev. Robert Thomas "Tom" Woodard

Rev. Robert Thomas "Tom"  Woodard
The Rev. Dr. Robert Thomas (Tom) Woodard died March 12, 2016, at the age of 84 after a battle with cancer. Tom was an ordained United Methodist minister, born in Laurel, raised in Greenville and resided in retirement in Starkville, MS. A graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, Tom was president of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, president of the student body, and voted as Master Major. He earned his Masters of Divinity and his Doctorate of Ministry at Candler School of Divinity at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Tom served for 39 years in churches across the North Mississippi Conference and later the consolidated Mississippi Conference. In retirement, Tom was an active member of the Civitan Club, his church choir, and Men for the Master.
Tom is survived by his wife, Frances Moore Woodard, his children, Lynn McBroom (Allen), Susan Woodard, and David Woodard (Lisa), and grandchildren: Thomas and Evan McBroom, Sam and Sarah Shannon, and Megan and Mackenzie Woodard.
The funeral service will be held in the sanctuary of Starkville First United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Starkville First United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice.
