I'm not gonna say "God knew best" or "God knew what he was doing" even though I firmly believe He absolutely has had His hands all over this situation and your family from the get go. No one can explain His ways.
What I want to say is this: No child leaves this world without having made an impression on those who were blessed to love them for only a moment. I lost my only child to an ectopic pregnancy and am amazed that such tragedies still occur in the modern world we live in today.

Condolence: There are just no words to comfort you in such an unimaginable time - the only gesture we all can make is to relate stories about Nikki to help add to your memories of her goodness and kindness. Nikki was my surgeon on a couple of occasions, most recently last year. She was also one of my clients - as happens in a small town, we often ran into each other at the grocery store, pharmacy, or just around town. She never ever had the super surgeon mantel about her - she was always smiling, calm, assured, and most of all, caring - she would touch your arm or shoulder while speaking to you and her eyes engaged you fully in the conversation. She laughed out loud - was such a fun and loving mother. I cannot imagine what a loss this must be to her friends, colleagues, and most of all to you, her family. She took great care of me in a time of uncertainty - I only wish I could somehow return that comfort to you.
