Obituary for Holmes Houston Carlisle

Holmes Houston Carlisle, 89, passed away on December 19, 2016 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. He was a retired Director of Missions for Scott County Baptist Association and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He established a church in Colorado Springs which is still active and established The Carlisle Crisis Center in Forest, MS. He worked with Hispanic and migrant worker's, authored several magazine articles and a book entitled "History of Scott County Baptist" and an unpublished book entitled "State of Religion".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Carlisle and Florence Elizabeth Randall Carlisle.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carmel Sullivan Carlisle of Starkville, MS; sons, Tony Carlisle (Peggy) of Flowood, MS, Vance Carlisle (Dana) of Tequesta, FL, and Gray Carlisle (Judy) of Starkville, MS; grandchildren, Jennifer Dillard, Emily Lynch, and Stephen, Andrew, Alex, and Leif Carlisle; and great grandchildren, Junia Dillard, Thomas Dillard, and Ava James Lynch.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:00 in Wesson City Cemetery.
