Obituary for Myra Jean Gleason Marler

Myra Jean Gleason Marler
It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Myra Jean (Gleason) Marler announce that she passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 29, 2017. Myra was born to her parents Mrs. Della Mae (Smith) Gleason, and Mr. Earl Emerson Gleason of Palm Beach County, Florida. The family later moved to Sugarland, TX where Myra attended High School. Myra last resided in Starkville, MS at The Claiborne at Adelaide.

She was preceded in passing by her husband Mr. Ralph G. Marler and her son Mr. Glen Allen Marler, all having resided in Brooksville, MS and her son-in-law, the late Mr. Randy Ingram of Starkville, MS.

Myra is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Debbie (Marler) Ingram Thompson (Grady Thompson), residing in Starkville, MS and Mrs. Lisa Marler Parrish (Clint Parrish) residing in Cumming, GA. Myra’s extended family included grandchildren Jason Ingram (Joni), Shane Ingram (Lena), and their families residing in Starkville, MS. Also Heather Butler (Bryan), residing in Eupora, MS, and Kiley Parrish and Marlee Parrish both residing in Cumming, GA. Finally, Ms. Kaci Thompson of Hattiesburg, MS and the late Ms. Haley Thompson of Crawford, MS. Myra was also blessed with eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, followed immediately by a memorial service. Dr. Chip Stevens and Rev. Clifton Curtis will conduct the service. Burial ceremonies will then take place at The Brooksville Cemetery in Brooksville, MS.

Myra was one of the great home makers preparing three meals a day for her family as they farmed in Brooksville, MS. She has shown great courage and character having seen her husband serve our Country in his capacity with the US Air Force in the Korean Conflict, and suffered the loss of their son at age 19. Myra enjoyed her Sunday school group very much and her circle of friends remained very close to her.

The family would like to thank the staff and physicians at Oktibbeha County Hospital, North Mississippi Medical Center, and Oktibbeha County Ambulance Service for their great work and care given to Mrs. Marler during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: First Baptist Church Children's Building Fund, 106 E. Lampkin St., Starkville, MS 39759.
