Obituary for Harold L. DuBien

In Memory of Harold L. DuBien

Harold Lester DuBien, 98, passed away on May 3, 2017 at the Carrington Nursing Home in Starkville, MS after a brief illness. He was born on December 7, 1918 in Joliet, IL to Eugene John DuBien and Edith Zoe (Vaughn) DuBien. He was a graduate of Joliet High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having joined the Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor. He was a retired Sears, Roebuck, and Company television service executive, having an office in the Sears Tower before his retirement. After retiring from Sears, he moved from New Lenox, IL to Ozark Acres, AR in 1974; and then, in 1986 to Mountain Home, AR with his wife Eleanor. In 2010, he moved to Huntington Park in Starkville, MS to live with his daughter, Janice. He was an avid Razorback sports fan, and he loved the SEC Network and Fox News Channel. After retiring, he and his wife became rock hounds, and he cut and polished the stones that they found, some of which he made into jewelry. He seemed to always be able to fix whatever was broken. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Eleanor Ruth (Fort) DuBien, one brother, and three sisters. He is survived by a son Dr. Lawrence Harold (Bonnie) DuBien of Greenville, ME, a daughter Dr. Janice Lynn DuBien of Starkville, MS, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for May 18, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Internment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
