The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Paula Patterson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Nicki Shoemake as I knew her.

Nicki was the daughter of Paul Shoemake, my neighbor in Birmingham, Alabama.  I loved him because of his dedication to his daughter, only child, Nicki.  He lived and breathed her existence.  He worked so hard to provide her with money and things she needed in order to make her dream of becoming a physician, come true.  One Christmas, he said that Nicki wanted a Wi exercise machine and that there were none to be found.  He was distressed because he wanted her to have what she wanted for Christmas.  I agreed with him to go to Best Buy on Black Friday and vi for one of the wi machines.  I was there at 4:30 am  in the morning and was third in line.  I was freezing but I stood in that line until 9 am to get a ticket and purchase the WI.  I am so thankful that I had that opportunity, and that I got the WI for her.  She was a health nut and wanted that WI so badly.  Later, I received a thank you note from, no other, than Nicki Shoemake Patterson herself, telling me how she appreciated the gift and that she knew what I went through to get it for her.  She was so excited that her father had paid for and given her this machine.  Now that I look back, I am wonderfully proud that I did that for her and for him, Paul Shoemake, her wonderful father , who tried to give her everything that she wanted for Christmas and tried to provide for her while she was doing her residency in Conneticut, USA.  I am so honored to have been a part of his life and her life.  Sandi Kelly, a friend, I loved them both.
