Condolence: I was a student a MSU when Bascom and Jimmye came to Starkville. They took us into their family. Loved Bascom. Later in life we had the privilege to be lead by Lee as an elder at Maryville, TN. He was taught well by his daddy and mom. We also have watched Lee's children grow up to serve others. What a legacy, Bascom!

Condolence: Psa. 116:15; Isa. 57:1,2 We remember Bascom as a good friend and fellow Christian. He loved his children and grandchildren so much and he dearly loved Jimmye Nell. May God give you the courage strength and comfort you need to get you through this time of grief. We will miss him; but know he's safe and free from pain and worry now.

Condolence: His life was one that had an absolutely incredible impact on the lives of so very many people. He was a blessing to me for so many years. His influence through Bible classes, work, & personal contact was and continues to be one of the great blessings of my life. There are so many that loved him, because just like our God in heaven, Bascom loved us first. My life is better because he was a part of it. I will never forget his wisdom & his life illustrations he taught me, but I hope I never forget his laughter. So many times, he would just sit across the table or room and just laugh at Lee & I or others because of something we said or did. It gave him such joy, but his life gave so much joy to so many. He helped so many prepare their lives to meet our maker and although my heart breaks because he’s gone from us, my heart rejoices because his journey is now complete!

Condolence: We are so very saddened to learn of this tremendous loss! He tirelessly invested in people - ministering to children, youth, and adults of all ages in so many ways. We will remember him always as a kind friend, constant mentor, and spiritual leader. Praying for you in the days and weeks ahead.

Condolence: Always appreciated Bascom's calm encouragement, and enjoyed his choice of hymns and leading song worship. I enjoyed area congregations' youth meeting at the skating rink back in the day, getting my education at MSU, and later living in Starkville for a time. Condolence: Words can’t express my feelings and appreciation for this man. He singled me out & instructed me during my teen years, in my twenties he helped guide me and challenged my spiritual life. He was always looking for my best interest because i was like one if his children. He was always looking to help my family and serve us in so many ways. He was truly one of Gods servants. I speak of him often when telling others about his loving ways and influence on me.

Condolence: Bascom had a huge impact on me during my time at MSU. He was such an encourager to me. I'm praying for his family and the church in Starkville.

Condolence: Bascom was a special person and a faithful Christian man. He never failed to come by and speak to us at church, and we would always catch up on sports. Our church family will miss him so much. Our prayers are with Jimmye, as she is unable to be there, which is so sad. Our prayers are with Angel and Lee as they journey through this difficult time grieving for Bascom and taking care of Jimmye.
