Obituary for Bobbie Gore

Bobbie  Gore
Bobbie McClain Lewis Gore, 92, wife of Albert N. Gore, Jr., passed from this life into her eternal life on April 13, 2023. She was born in 1930 to the late George Leonard and Cora Fondren McClain.
Bobbie graduated from Mathiston High School where she was a standout member of the girls’ basketball team. She attended Clarke College and received her BS in Education from Mississippi College. Bobbie went on to earn her Masters of Library Science from Mississippi State University and was a librarian for Henderson Junior High and Starkville High School before retiring from the Starkville Public Schools. A member of the Mississippi Association of Educators, she served as president and was a delegate to the National Convention in Dallas, Texas.
Bobbie cared for others deeply and was a beloved friend, encourager and advocate for students, coworkers and family members. She was there for her siblings and their families in times of need and joy and was a favorite aunt or like a second mother to nieces and nephews.
Never bored, she was a voracious reader, active in advocating for those in need, and always kept up with current events. An avid sports fan, cheering on her teams was her great pastime.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Helen King, Reba Harris and Betty Boyd; two brothers: E Fondren McClain and George Leonard McClain, and the father of her children, Dr. George R. Lewis. Bobbie is survived by, in addition to her husband, daughter Denise Lewis Waldrep (Brian), and Dr. Michael K. Lewis, grandsons Carey G. Smith (Kira) and Austin K. Lewis, stepdaughter Celeste Barczewska (Ralph), stepson Al Gore (Jeannette), step-grandsons Todd Waldrep (Sara), Andy Waldrep (Mary), David Jackson, and Rudi, Aiden, and Garen Barczewska, and 3 great-grandchildren and special friend K.J. Sora-Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross at PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or Global Ministries/UMCOR, GPO, PO Box 9068, New York, NY 10087-9068.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 17, at 2:00PM at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel with visitation at 1:00 prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at North Union Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
