Obituary for Carl Holloway

Carl  Holloway
Carl Maurice Holloway passed away Thursday, February 25th at home. He was born in 1947 in Raleigh, North Carolina and grew up in Meridian, Mississippi. His parents were Carl M. Holloway and Julia M. Holloway. He was educated at Meridian Junior College and University of Southern Mississippi where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance. He began his banking career with the First National Bank of Meridian, went on to become a national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of Currency serving in the office of Montgomery, Alabama. In 1974, he was hired by John Mitchell at the Peoples Savings Bank as the Assistant Vice President of Starkville Operations and retired as Executive Vice President in charge of system operations in 1997. Upon retirement from the bank, he formed Holloway & Associates Inc., a bank consulting company working with community banks in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Alabama. He served on the Board of Directors for the National Bank of Commerce Capital Corporation (later Cadence Bank), was active in Boy Scout work, United Way of Starkville, served as director of the Starkville Chamber of Commerce, was a member of Faith Baptist Church and various civic and charitable activities in the community. Carl served on The American Bankers Association Education Committee and was the Chairman of the Mississippi Bankers Association Operations Committee. He was devoted to his family and his dogs and loved being Poppy more than anything. He loved watches and cars, and collected both. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Diane Holloway. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Diane, sons, David (Marianne) and Nathan, daughters, Kristen and Amanda (Chris), and grandsons, Carter and Asher. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens Park, Wednesday, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Baptist Church.
