The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charles Lowery can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolences

Condolence From: Christoph Giebel
Condolence: Tammy, Sonia, Tillman (born in Starkville), Beia, and I are very saddened by the news of Charles' passing. Charles took a chance on me right out of grad school and gave me not only the opportunity to launch my academic career, but also exemplary mentorship in the two years I was at MSU. Of all academic mentors I had on three continents, Charles stood out as most caring and encouraging. His is the model I have tried to emulate later in my own support for younger colleagues, as I pay forward the gifts I received from Charles. I will forever be grateful to Charles. My family also will never forget the kindness and warmth with which Susie and Charles welcomed us in Starkville and the friendship extended to us ever since. May Charles rest in peace and may Susie find strength and comfort in her family and friends surrounding her. From Seattle, we extend our most heartfelt condolences to Susie and the Lowery family.

Condolence: Jennifer and I are so sorry to hear of Charles's passing. Charles brought us to MSU, he and Susie graciously housed me as we sought a place for our young family, and he was a wonderful mentor. His many kindnesses toward us will always be remembered. We are praying for Susie and all his family.

Condolence: Jim and I were sad to learn of the passing of Charles. It seemed to happen so quickly. We had recently spoken of replaced ankles and commiserated. He had much to do, and looked forward to continuing his work. I have had a long association with Charles, held him in high regard, and will miss him.
