Obituary for Emma Jean Gifford
Emma Jean Gifford, 75, passed away on December 6, 2018 at her residence in Starkville, MS. She was a teacher & librarian with Oktibbeha County Schools and was a Senior Class sponsor. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Tarkington and Laura Plunkett Tarkington.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years,, Dr. Vernon Gifford (Pete) of Starkville, MS; daughter, Tammy Smith (Fred) of Daphne, AL; son, Shandon Darryl Gifford of Starkville, MS; grandchildren, Amber Adele Gifford, Torie Rae Ellenson, Kyleigh Elisabeth Breakfield, and Jacob Scott Breakfield; and great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Adalyn and Joseph.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Burial is in Bell Schoolhouse Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
