Obituary for James Harkins Simpson, Jr.

James Harkins Simpson, Jr. of Longview, went to his heavenly home on January 9, 2019, at the age of 87. He was a retired professor of Agricultural Economics at MSU and was a long-time member of Longview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Davis Simpson; 3 children, Debra (Rick) Greer, Teresa (Frankie) Thompson, Jamie (Angie) Simpson; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Robert P. (Nancy) Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Simpson, Sr. and Sallie Elizabeth Simpson.

Visitation will be held at Welch Funeral Home on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with services in the funeral home chapel at noon. A private family burial will take place at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia.
