The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James S. "Dutch" Ames can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: So sorry for your loss. I still think of your family often as my first foster family I worked with and one of my favorites. You are in my prayers.

Condolence: So sorry for your loss. I worked with Dutch for several years at FPL, he was always so nice to me, he was a good person, he will be missed by his FPL family.

Condolence: Janet, so sorry to hear of Dutch's passing. Below is a sentiment that I hope brings some solace.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I am following the path God laid for me
I took his hand when I heard his call
I turned my back and left it all

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship showed, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss

Be not burdened with time of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now--he set me free

Condolence: I saw Dutch’s obituary in the paper this morning. His beautiful smile made me think of what the faces of his loved ones must look like welcoming him to heaven. I know you will miss him terribly, but knowing he has no more suffering must be a tremendous blessing.
