Jimmy Allen Covin of Starkville MS passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday October 11, 2022. Jimmy was born December 15, 1942 to C.E. and Maxine Covin. He grew up in Aberdeen MS where he graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1961. He was voted “Class Favorite”, played varsity football and began his life long love of tennis. After high school he attended Southern School of Printing in Nashville TN before beginning his career in the printing industry at the Aberdeen Examiner. In 1963 he met the love of his life Janie and in 1968 they moved to Starkville where Jimmy and his oldest brother Bob began a partnership at Vaughan Printing Company which lasted 39 years. In October 2007 Jimmy and his son Brad established Watermark Printers located in Starkville.

Jimmy’s love of tennis started very young on a tennis court in the backyard of a childhood friend. His game and love of playing grew over the years into more than just a hobby. He often served as team captain and League Coordinator for the Starkville Tennis League. He enjoyed playing in tournaments all over Mississippi and the Southeast and made friendships to last a lifetime.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Janie of 58 years; daughter Liz Covin of Atlanta GA; son Brad Covin of Starkville and his wife Ashley; and grandchildren Hayden Covin of Atlanta GA, Meaghan Covin of Brandon MS, Molly Beth Covin of Starkville and his great grandson Thomas Chandler of Brandon MS. He is also survived by his brother Tom Covin of Metairie LA.

Jimmy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Starkville and a member of The Savage Bible Class.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents C.E. and Maxine Covin and his brother Bob Covin of Starkville MS.

The family invites you to visitation at First United Methodist Church in Starkville from 2pm - 4pm Saturday, October 15, 2022, with a celebration of his life immediately following.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jimmy’s name to First United Methodist Church, Starkville, The Alzheimer’s Association, The American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
