In Memory of

Joan

Harrelson

Condolences

Condolence From: Nancy Dorman-Hickson
Condolence: My family were next door neighbors with the Harrelsons on Old West Point Road. I remember visiting their house and loving Mrs. Harrelson's wonderful cooking (her lemon icebox pie was astounding!); Mr. Harrelson's talent with woodwork (he made me several items, including a coffee table I still have); Dorothy's ready smile and Joan's constant laugh. Our family sometimes watched the Miss America pageant with them, which was truly an experience. Joan taught me how to play dominoes, which required the patience of a saint. They were wonderful neighbors and always welcomed us into their home. After my mother died suddenly at age 42, they were more than kind to my sisters, brother and I. Mrs. Harrelson even taught my dad how to cook when he become a solo parent. I am sorry to hear of Joan's passing. She was the last of a family near and dear to my own.

Condolence: The entire Harrelson family became one of my extended families at MSU and Starkville and what a blessing. Loved all of them - Joan and Dot were so influential in my life. Joan will be missed and I thank God that I had the privilege to know them. There is a happy family reunion in Heaven. Will miss this family.

Condolence: I had her for my Sunday School class director in the 11th grade and 12th grade with her sister Dot. They were both a big part of my childhood at FBC, Starkville. She will always have a special place in my heart!
