Obituary for Lawrence J. Hill

Lawrence J. Hill, known to friends as “Larry,” passed away on March 5, 2020 at the age of 83 years after a short illness.

A resident of Starkville for 67 years, Larry graduated from Mississippi State University in 1960 with a degree in Engineering, attained his Master’s degree in 1966 and went on to join the staff of the Engineering Department for his entire career, ultimately becoming the Assistant Dean.

He was a loyal friend with many passions from water skiing, boating, motorcycling, regional science fairs, custom printing, and audio engineering including building Columbus’ first analog radio station, WKOR, in 1956.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Grott (Charlie), and niece, Melanie Taylor (Eric).
