Obituary for Lorelei Love Brooks

Lorelei Love Brooks was born sleeping in the arms of angels on April 11, 2021 at 12:39pm at OCH Regional Medical Center weighing 2 pounds and 3 ounces. Lorelei is the precious daughter of William and Leslie Brooks and the cherished little sister to big brothers Bryson Scott and Tripp Brooks.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Starkville with Pastor Joshua Reagan officiating and Welch’s Funeral Home, 201 West Lampkin Street of Starkville, directing.

Lorelei was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents Joe Fred Brooks, Suretha Brooks, and Benita Dillard as well as maternal great-grandparents Thomas “Skip” and Margaret Prentice and Babe and Betty Winfield. In addition to these great-grandparents, she is also preceded in death by a very special paternal great-aunt Merle McMinn.

In addition to her parents and older brothers, Lorelei is survived by her paternal grandparents Josh and Rachel Reagan of Oxford and Mike and Gina Brooks of Starkville; maternal grandparents Tommy and Kathy Prentice of Starkville; paternal great-grandparents Gary and Nancy Green of West Monroe, LA and paternal great-grandfather Larry Dillard of Beech Bluff, TN. Lorelei is also survived by an Aunt and Uncle on William’s side, Andy and Mary Kathryn Nichols of Starkville and cousin Mary Louise and an Aunt on Leslie’s side, Alaina Prentice of Starkville. In addition to these special family members, Lorelei is survived by numerous other relatives and friends who loved her very much.

The family would like to thank the doctors, especially Dr. Kristin Fyke, and staff of OCH Regional Medical Center for their incredible care, compassion, and kindness provided to Leslie, baby Lorelei, and the entire family. The family also would like to thank everyone for the prayers and concerns extended to them during this difficult time.

The following verses have provided comfort to Lorelei’s parents and family this past week. They know that some people only dream of angels but they were the lucky ones that held an Angel in their arms.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Psalm 23:1-6
