Obituary for Lynn Parker Black
Lynn Parker Black passed away on December 20, 2022 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. She was born on October 8, 1947 in Brooksville, MS to the late A. Rex Parker and Essie Cannon Parker.
She was a member of Brooksville Baptist Church and Trustee in Congregational Church in Middlebury, CT. Lynn graduated from Macon High School and was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women (The "W") where she received her Bachelors Degree in Interior Design and Art. In 1969 she went to work for Delta Airlines as a flight attendant in Atlanta, GA, where she met her husband, Ed. During her 32 years of flying, she was based in Boston (commuted from Southbury, CT) and Houston, TX. While in Connecticut she worked with a fundraiser committee for the Cancer Society, also the Red Cross Society in Middlebury, CT and the Waterbury Museum Ladies Society in Waterbury, CT. Lynn moved to Houston, TX in 1993, where she was a member of the Houston Junior Auxiliary League.
She moved to Starkville in 2004, where she was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection and the Master Gardeners, her favorite group of people to know. She served as President of the Starkville Town and Country Garden Club and involved with fundraising. Lynn also belonged to the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Hic-A-Sha-BA-Ha Chapter of Starkville, MS and enjoyed playing Duplet Bridge whenever she could.
She is survived by her husband Ed Black of Starkville, MS; daughter, Kathryn Stax (Bill) of The Villages, FL; and grandchildren, Will Stax, cadet at the Air Force Academy, and Rachel Stax, attending the University of Massachusetts.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 6, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville, MS, with services immediately following.
