Obituary for Mildred Ann (Dumpy) Wade
Mildred Ann (Dumpy) Wade passed away April 6, 2022, at Baptist Hospital in Columbus. She was born December 10, 1940, to Hugh and Mildred Wright Wade.
She attended Starkville schools and upon graduation, enrolled at Millsaps College. During her years at Millsaps she was a member of the college band and Beta Sigma Omicron Sorority . As the top Political Science major, she was awarded the coveted Washington Semester her senior year and spent a semester interning in D.C. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Millsaps and returned to D.C. where she worked for Senator Hart of Michigan. Upon his retirement, Senator Hart encouraged her to get her Law Degree which she received from American University. Mildred practiced law in D.C. until she returned to Starkville to care for her aging parents.
Mildred enjoyed reading, being with her friends,taking care of her dogs and horses. She was currently serving as president of the Trim Cane Water Association. She was also a member of the Bell School House VFD.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday April 14th at her residence at 565 Wade Rd. with a pot luck meal to follow. All family and friends are welcome. Rev. Bill Murphy will conduct the service.
