Peggy Kolb Hartness, 78, of Starkville, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 10, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born on December 30, 1943, in Webster Country, MS, to Wister Ezra Kolb and Nell Hubbard Kolb.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Davis Donothan Hartness; brother, William Wister Kolb; sisters Sue Kolb Cook and Gerri Kolb Tenhet; son Gary (Donna) Hartness, Long Beach.

Peggy is survived by sons Brian (Jennifer) Hartness, Starkville MS; Darryl (Tricia) Hartness, Columbus, MS; Donny (Melba) Hartness, Marianna, AR; John (Barbara Ann) Hartness, Marianna, AR; daughters Brenda (Tom) Brooks, Starkville, MS; Glenda (Patrick) Tranum, Sturgis MS; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; her brother, Lamar (Sudie) Kolb, sisters Patricia Cochran and Nancy (Bud) Bruce, a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Peggy devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was always in charge of cooking the cornbread dressing at family gatherings, because hers was the absolute best. She is finally reunited with her Davis, and has found everlasting peace.

Serving as pallbearers are Garrett Ponder, Jimmy Cook, Stephen Edwards, Ronnie Kolb, Michael Kolb, and Vince Tenhet.

The funeral services will be held at Welch Funeral Home on Friday January 14, at 1PM, with Brother Dickie Bryan officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12-1. Interment will be at Memorial Garden Park Cemetery in Starkville.
