Ralph Newell  Braswell
Ralph Newell Braswell, age 91, passed away at his home on September 2, 2022. Ralph was born
November 22, 1930, in Montgomery County, Mississippi to the late Preston and Lura Kennedy Braswell. He was the youngest of six children. He grew up in Vaiden, MS and graduated from Vaiden High School. Ralph fell in love with Sarah Helen Price in grade school and has been married to her for 71 years.   He was known as “Mr. Ralph” by his friends and customers at Tabor Brothers Auto Supply in Starkville, which he and Helen managed for 50 years before retiring in 2004.  Ralph was faithful to his Lord and his church. He was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School director for 30 years. He was a member of Starkville Jaycees and a member of the Starkville Quarterback Club. Ralph was always a big supporter of Starkville High School and MSU sports. 

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Nellie Hearon, Eva Collier, Linnie Belk, and Cordie Cross and his brother, Jessie Braswell. 

He is survived by his wife, Helen Price Braswell; his children, Ronnie (Kathy) Braswell of Starkville and Teresa (Bobby) Shannon of Starkville; grandchildren, Josh (Christina) Bost of Fairbanks AK, Zach (Katie) Bost of Kosciusko, and Austin Braswell of Starkville; great grandchildren, Hunter, Preston, and Charlotte, and Micah Bost.  

A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at Welch Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 @ 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 1-2. There will be no graveside service.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 1804 South Montgomery Street, Starkville, MS 39759, or a charity of choice.
