Condolence: Jim and Lucy helped me and my new family in so many ways, including officiating at our wedding in the Y.

I have many many times thought of him and Lucy over the years and can see his kind face and eyes so clearly in my mind.

I consider him one of the top influences in my life and will forever be grateful.

Condolence: Jim was truly “my best friend” during my 30+ years at Mississippi State (and even beyond) and in a real sense I felt that our families were one family. It is unsettling to imagine what our lives would have been like without the Landrums.

Condolence: Jim Landrum single-handedly made enough "Silver Dollar Pancakes" one Saturday morning in 1968 to provide fodder for a pancake eating contest for some five and six year old kids in the neighborhood... I don't remember who won the contest, but I still remember him standing in the kitchen flipping pancakes and daring us to eat more. I was one of those kids.

I have admired "Mr Landrum" all my life: not only for his pancake cooking prowess, but also for his keen sense of humor, his huge laugh, his quest for social justice, and his endless love for his family.

I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and to his many friends. I have not seen Jim for a long time, but I have never forgotten him. He was one of the best people I ever had the pleasure and honor of knowing.

Love always.
