Obituary for Sarah Doss Gable Nickels

Mrs. Sarah Doss Gable Nickels, age 79, took her first Heavenly breath on February 17, 2021 after battling Covid pneumonia.

Sarah is survived by her husband of 33 years, Charles Nickels; her two sons, Jamie Gable (Fran) of New Hope, MS and Jerry Gable (Denise) of Gautier, MS; daughters, Jennifer Kimbrough (Ryan) of Starkville, MS, Melissa Neely (Lee) of Holcomb, MS and Emme Tindall (Jim) of Grenada, MS; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two brothers, Raymon Doss and Thomas Steve Doss; two sisters, Minnie Lou Franklin and Barbara Morris; and a host of nieces and nephews; and her loving cat, Oreo.

Sarah was born November 26, 1941 to the late James Jackson Doss and Essie McDowell Doss in Calhoun County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Pete Doss; sisters, Tula Doss Vance, Jimmie Doss Pendegrass, Ethelene Doss Thomas and Geneva Doss McCafferty.

Sarah graduated from Ole Miss nursing school and served as a dedicated nurse for 45 years before retiring. Sarah always said God put her here on earth to take care of others and she happily did so. She was always quick to lend a helping hand.

Most important to Sarah was family and loved them big. She was quick to share whatever she had with family and friends and always ended the conversation with "love you more". She looked forward to the Doss Family Reunions every year.

Christmas time was her favorite time of year, not only because she decorated every room in the house, but because she knew every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would be present.

Sarah loved to play all kinds of card games and dominoes. She could be found most weekends playing dominoes with her loving friends, Bobbie and Wesley White and Wendy Dandass. She is for sure playing Rook and Dominoes in heaven with anyone that will play.

A memorial to celebrate her life will be held at First Baptist Church in Maben, MS on March 13, 2021 at
2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association of America or your charity of choice.
