Walker Farriel Montgomery,16, beloved son, brother, and friend to many passed away on Thursday
Decemer 1, 2022.
Walker was born on November 1, 2006, in Cleveland, Miss., to Brian and Courtney (Poole) Montgomery. He attended Starkville Academy where he excelled in academics and football. Walker enjoyed running heavy machinery and working on the farm with his family. He had an innate and boundless appreciation and love for the outdoors, and he particularly loved bow-hunting with his father.

Known as an encourager, Walker was a natural leader among his friends. He worked hard for everything he earned and gained the respect of his family, teachers, coaches and peers by going above and beyond to help and encourage others on and off the football field. He was a dedicated, hard worker and a great friend who had a fun-loving sense of humor. Walker will forever be remembered with a smile on his face and as a friend who others could always count on.

Walker is survived by his parents, Brian and Courtney of Starkville; an older sister, Caralyne; a younger brother, Bennett; a younger sister, Sarah; grandparents David Montgomery of Byhalia, Miss., and Steve Poole of Greenville, Miss., and Danny and Carolyn Eifling of Starkville; uncles Matthew (Beverly) Montgomery of Byhalia, Miss., Stephen (Emily) Poole of Greenville, Miss.,Evan (Heather) Poole of Greenville, Miss.; aunts Monica Cruthirds of Knoxville, Tenn., Heather (Bill) Mobley of Greenville, Miss.; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Deborah Montgomery, and maternal grandmother, Marcia Poole.

Pallbearers are Matt Brignac, Steve Brown, William Hilbun, Alex Mayfield, Timmy Renfroe, and Mitt Wardlaw. Honorary pallbearers are Starkville Academy 10th grade boys.

A funeral service will be held Monday, December 5, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Starkville, Miss., with graveside immediately following at Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkville.

Memorials may be made to the Walker Montgomery Memorial Football Fund to Starkville Academy, 505 Academy Road, Starkville, Miss.
