Condolence From: Richard Wilhelm
Condolence: I was saddened to learn of the passing of your dad, Bill, Tom, and John. Yet so admire and pleased that he had 94 wonderful years in our world, surrounded by loving children and grandchildren. Now he has joined your mother Dorothy, and my parents John and Peggy, and family in The Lord's heaven. I recall the many times we all had family gatherings in Mexico City, Jarrettsville, Westport, Townsend, and certainly Port Chester at Grandpa and Grandma Maslin's house (and that great attic, full of toys including your dad's wonderful Lionel Train set). And I recall the last time I had the pleasure of sharing a two hour lunch with your parents, and so enjoyed the recollection of good times, and how proudly they spoke about you three boys (men). But most of all, the wonderful family environment we were brought up in, with loving and caring and nurturing parents and wonderful homes, and now for us to pass on that legacy to our future generations. A side recollection; I was a fan of space flight and airplanes in my youth. Often building scale models, dioramas, and certainly school projects. Your dad was always so helpful to me offering advice and literature, even sending me props to use in my hobby and school presentations, and I was so proud to ‘brag’ about Uncle Bill and his involvement in the aviation and space industries. I have never forgotten that wonderful kindness, just one small part of what a wonderful man your dad was.
I have lit a candle and a prayer in your dad’s name at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Athens, Ohio, where I now teach at Ohio University.
Love and blessings to you all and your families.
Dick Wilhelm
