Obituary for Patsy McGee

Patsy was the beloved mother, wife, and friend to many. She died at Oktibbeha County Hospital at age 76. Patsy was born in Chunky, MS, the daughter of Ellis and Christel McGee. She graduated from Hickory High School in Hickory, MS and East Central Jr. College of Decatur, MS.

She is survived by her husband Bill McGee, daughters Debbie Armour and husband Steve of Laurel, MS, Donna Loehr and husband Robert of Atlanta, GA, David McGee and wife Kristie of Starkville, MS, and Darren McGee and wife Candy of Fishers, IN. She is also survived by two sisters, Jackie Allred of Laurel, MS and Gina Davis of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; she left twenty-four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Their names are Angie Bullen and husband Terry of Jessup, MD, Kristi Thomas and husband Ryan of Birmingham, AL, Will Armour of Dayton, OH, Dan Armour and wife Caroline of Nashville, TN, Joe Armour and wife Caroline of Baton Rouge, LA, Rebekah Johnson and husband Kyle of Starkville, MS, Mary Dowell and husband Matt of Starkville, MS, Patti, Ike, Emily, Laura, and Ben Armour of Laurel, MS, Robert, John, Gracie, and Lexie Loehr of Atlanta, GA, Candace Feasel and husband Jim of Brandon, MS, Kelli McGee and fiancée Nathan Plunk of Tupelo, MS, Casey McGee and fiancée Adam Bilbo of Starkville, MS, Billy McGee of Starkville, MS Aaron, Jonathan, Micah, and Jordan McGee of Fishers, IN. Mrs. McGee’s great grandchildren include Lee, Will, and Grace Bullen of Jessup, MD, Charlie and Henry Armour of Nashville, TN, Addy Feasel of Brandon, MS, and Evie Dowell of Starkville, MS.

As family and friends would attest, Patsy lived a life for others. She loved crocheting, sewing, growing plants—her specialty being African violets. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Starkville, MS. Her home was always open to friends and family. In her earlier years, she was a secretary in several departments at Mississippi State University. Although for nearly half of her life Patsy struggled with a serious auto immune disorder, she never lived as a victim but lived life to its fullest with her beloved husband, Bill.

Visitation for Mrs. McGee is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Starkville. Rev. Chip Stevens and Rev. Clifton Curtis will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations towards the First Baptist Church children’s building fund at 106 East Lampkin Street, Starkville, MS 39759.
