Obituary for Jane Britt Jackson

Jane Britt  Jackson
Jane Britt Jackson, 84, passed away on December 22, 2014 at her residence in Starkville, MS. She was born on August 10, 1930 in Copiah County to David P. Britt and Mamie Smith Britt. She graduated from New Site High School in 1947. Jane attended Lincoln Jr. College in Copiah, where she played basketball and then graduated from University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Home Economics. She married Edwin Robert Jackson on November 21, 1954 and they were married 56 years. Her jobs included: Home Economics teacher in Water Valley, MS, Starkville Assistant Home Economist for one year, Home Economist in Choctaw County, Home Economis teacher at Sturgis High School for 10 years, as well as wife and mom. She was a homemaker,long time member of First Baptist Church in Starkville, MS, and a loving wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Robert Jackson; parents, David P. and Mamie Smith Britt; and son-in-law, Travis Denton Phillips, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Jackson Phillips, married to Travis Denton Phillips, Jr. of Starkville, MS; her son, David Clark Jackson, married to Lorraine Krametz Jackson of Penn Yan, NY; and her grandchildren, Edwin Travis Phillips and David Denton Phillips.

Visitation for Mrs. Jackson is scheduled for Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the church sanctuary. Rev. Clifton Curtis will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to French Camp Academy, Lottie Moon Mission Offering, or First Baptist Church in Starkville.
