Dr. Jose Rodriguez

Dr. Jose Maria Rodriguez, beloved husband to Catherine (Shelton) Rodriguez, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Camaguey, Cuba on September 5, 1947 and was an employee of the State Chemistry Department at Mississippi State University.

Dr Rodriguez was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Rodriguez; adoptive father, Robert Hooper; mother and father-in-law, Glenn and Opal Shelton and son, Kevin Boggs. Survived by mother Jean Hooper; three sons Gabriel Rodriguez, Michael (Nikki) Rodriguez, and Richard Boggs; one daughter Susan (Mike) Brockman; one daughter in law Mickie Boggs; five grandsons Andrew Boggs, Mark Rittenhouse, Tyler and Nathan Kelley, Wyatt Whitaker; 1 granddaughter Natalie Kelley; brother Mark Hooper; 2 sisters Dana (Robert) Lakari and Betsy (Tom)Choate. Also survived by numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church Chapel with the memorial service immediately following at 10:30 in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Starkville Children’s Fund or ALS organizations.
