Obituary for Dr. Charles William (Bill) Bobbitt, Sr.

Dr. Charles William (Bill) Bobbitt, Sr., age 87, passed away at his residence in Starkville, MS on July 23, 2015. Bill was a retired Professor of Engineering Mechanics at Mississippi State University where he taught for 35 years. Bill was a member, elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher at the First Presbyterian Church in Starkville; he worked under a Fellowship project for NASA in the development of the Space Shuttle; recently a paper he wrote, "A Fresh Look at the Origin and Development Of Life On Earth" was published; he was a member of the Starkville Café Breakfast Club; he also served in the U.S. Army Air Corp.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 27, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Starkville. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:45-10:45 on Tuesday with the funeral service to follow on July 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park in Starkville.

Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane Elizabeth Grisham Bobbitt of Starkville; daughter, Mary Beth Fenimore and her husband, Cal, of Aurora, Colorado; son, Charles William Bobbitt, Jr. and his wife, May of China; 4 grandchildren, Jack and Blake Fenimore and Elizabeth and Debbie Bobbitt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett Russell Bobbitt and Louise Anna Lucke Bobbitt.

Memorial donations may be made to Palmer Home for Children or French Camp Academy.
