Obituary for E. Dale Jackson

E. Dale  Jackson
E. Dale Jackson, 91, passed away on July 28, 2015 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. Mr. Jackson was a Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 40 years of service and without a day of sick leave. He was WW II U.S. Army Veteran, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received his MBA from Mississippi State University. He was a devout Christian, member of Sturgis Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, member of the choir, and he was Sunday School Superintendent for 17 years. He was also on the OCH Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees for 17 years, High School Football Official for 14 years. He was a devoted husband of 64 years, loving father and grandfather, and avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark W. Jackson and Mary E. Stewart Jackson; sister, Martha Makamson; brothers, Edwin R. Jackson and Calvin Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Ruth Gary Jackson of Sturgis, MS; sons, Clay Charlton Jackson of Southaven, MS, and Aubrey Lee Jackson of Collierville, TN; and four grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Jackson is scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Sturgis Baptist Church. Rev. Russell Mord will conduct the service. Burial will be in Sturgis City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to French Camp Academy, or to the Sturgis Baptist Church Building Fund.
