Henry Allen “Hank” Moseley beloved husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on August 19, 2015. “Hank” (a nickname given to him by General Herb Grills in Tokyo, Japan in 1953) was born on September 28, 1927, in Forest, Mississippi, the son of Floyd and Florence Moseley. At the time of death “Hank” was 87 years of age.

“Hank” grew up in Forest and attended Forest High School, graduating in 1945. Following graduation, Hank joined Humble Oil Company doing seismograph work in Mississippi, Louisiana and West Texas. In 1947, he left the oil company and entered Mississippi State College (now Mississippi State University, MSU) to study business.

At MSU, he was the manager of the Bulldog football team, serving under Coaches Allyn McKeen and Arthur W. “Slick” Morton. He graduated from MSU in 1951, with his BS degree in business and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force through the ROTC program. “Hank” entered active duty as a career officer in January 1952, and was retired at the Pentagon as a LT. Colonel in July 1975. Aside from his two tours at the Pentagon, one on the Air Staff, and one on the Department of Defense (DOD) staff, “Hank” served tours of duty in Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and Korea. His awards include: The Legion of Merit, The Army-Air Force Commendation Medal, and The Air Force Commendation Medal w one Oak Leaf Cluster. Service Ribbons include: Korean Service, United Nations, Japan Occupation, and Vietnam Service.

After retiring from the USAF on July 31, 1975, “Hank” remained in the Washington area until May of 1977, when he entered the highway construction field with Hy-Co Safety Light Company of Shreveport, LA. He opened and managed the Baton Rouge branch of that company until September 1983, when he joined Mississippi State University as the liaison representative between the University, and the Mississippi Legislature. He remained in this capacity five years before being assigned as Associate Director of the Alumni Association.

“Hank” terminated his employment with the Alumni Association in 1993, and immediately joined the staff of G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery as one of the coordinator for “Sonny’s” re-election campaign to represent the 3rd District in the U.S. Congress. “Hank” and Dan Kimbrough jointly coordinated the 1993 campaign. When “Sonny” elected not to run for re-election in 1996, “Hank” joined “Chip” Pickering’s Campaign as the coordinator for the Northern half of the 3rd District. After Chip’s election in 1996, Hank became a full time staffer, and managed “Chip’s” Starkville office for twelve years. When “Chip” elected not to run for re-election in 2007 “Hank” joined Congressman Gregg Harper’s staff and continues to serve as the representative for the Starkville office.

“Hank” is survived by his wife of 57 years “Lil” Hewett Moseley and his son Allen, of whom he was so very proud. Allen and his wife Tammy, gave him his most treasured gifts, three grandsons, Josh, Jake, and Mike all of Lafayette, La. Josh and his wife Laure are expecting his first great grandson in December. Hank’s heart burst with pride when it came to his grandsons, and he was so proud of Allen’s love for the LORD, his honesty and work ethic.

Other family members include his sister Alice Nickson (Nickii) Elrod , nieces: Paige Lawes, Adriana Coffman and Farrel Honea, nephew Christiaan Lawes and sister-in-law: Nina Moseley and nieces Gina Reiss, Nina Jones and Cher Tadlock.

Pallbearers for the service are: Josh Moseley, Jake Moseley, Mike Moseley, Jimmy Lackey, Dink Gibson, Gene Walker, Stanley Shows and Michael Cravens. Honorary Pallbearers; Johnston Sunday School Class, Warner Alford, Kyle Jordan, Charles Weatherly, Glenn McCullough and John Correro.

Visitation 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Saturday and
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Sunday

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday August 23, 2015 at 2:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Starkville with Reverend “Chip” Stevens presiding. Graveside service to follow at Memorial Garden Park with full military honors.

In lieu of Flowers the family request all memorials be made to First Baptist Church Starkville for the Children’s building.
