James Gordon Turner, Sr., 88, passed away on September 8, 2015 at Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus, MS. He was the retired Produce Manager for Sunflower Grocery in Columbus and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He served the community as a volunteer fireman for East Oktibbeha County Fire Department for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Gordon Turner and Olive E. Johnson Turner; his wife of 58 years, Peggy Turner; brothers, Feddie Turner and Bill Turner.

He is survived by his daughters, Betty Buckner of Columbus, MS, Lana Holland of Columbus, MS, Linda Williams (Kenneth) of Meridian, MS, and Debbie Lamb (Fred) of Dayton, OH; sons, James G. (Butch) Turner, Jr. (Carol) of Yulee, FL, and Dexter Turner (Elaine) of Columbus, MS; sister, Faye Turner of Starkville, MS; brother, Larry Turner of West Point, MS; 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home. Rev. Dickey Bryan will conduct the service. Burial will be in Curtis Chapel Cemetery.
