John Wilborn Jackson, 78, passed away on October 28, 2015 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was retired from Bell South Telephone Company and also from Mississippi State University Telecommunications Department. Mr. Jackson was a member of Sturgis Baptist Church and he served in Korea in the U.S. Army. John was Alderman for the town of Sturgis and a member of the Longview Opry.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Jackson and Doris Crumpton Jackson.

He is survived by his wife 40+ years, Eloise Jackson of Sturgis, MS; daughters, Susie McClelland (Terry) of Sturgis, MS, and Debbie Bogue (Joe) of Tuscaloosa, AL; son, John W. Jackson, Jr. of Sturgis, MS; sister, Margaret Boyter; grandchildren, Jenny Mayfield (Alex), Autumn McClelland, and Matthew McClelland; and great grandchildren, Peyton, Drake, Noah, Mason, Devyn, and Tinley.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Russell Mord will conduct the service. Burial will be in Sturgis Cemetery in Sturgis, MS.
