Mary Martin Moorehead, age 84, passed away on June 30, 2016 at the Carrington Nursing Center in Starkville, MS. Mary was a retired employee of the Mississippi State University Athletic Office. Mary graduated from Corinth High School in 1950 and attended Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, MS where she was a cheerleader and finished her college degree at MSCW in Columbus, MS where she was a member of the Social Club, Maskers. Mary loved her family, read her bible daily, went with Joe almost everywhere, loved her flowers, loved going out with her friends for lunch, loved First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday school class, a member of the Starkville Woman’s club, a member of the Garden Club, a member of the Bridge Club, and a life time member of the Starkville Junior Auxiliary. While her husband, Joe, was stationed at Robins Air Force base she served as a typist for the U.S. Air Force, Warner Robbins, Georgia.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joe Benson Moorehead ; daughter, Lynn Rutledge, and her husband, Philip of Madison, MS; sons, Jim B. Moorehead and his wife, Lynn of Starkville, and Jack M. Moorehead and his wife, Kim of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; grandchildren, Mary Martin Guerieri (Trey), Mackenzie Moorehead (Mary), Josie Moorehead, Ben and Maris Moorehead; and great granddaughters, Nora Lynn and Mary Grace Guerieri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vester Martin and Claudia Wood Martin, and brother, O.V. Martin.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 10 – 11 with the funeral services to follow at 11 in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary in Starkville. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkville.
