Barney Lee Miller Jr. of Irving, Texas went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Son of the late Barney Lee Miller Sr. and Annie Louise Hall Miller, he was born February 07, 1948 in Columbus, Mississippi, and moved to Irving in 1966.

Barney’s first love was music. He was an accomplished songwriter and guitar player, and played professionally most of his life. He spread joy through his music and touched many lives. Most recently, he joined the church band at the Cowboy Church of Ellis County, Texas. Barney loved family, friends, music, and laughter. His sense of humor and quick wit made him a friend to all who knew him.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, at Memorial Garden Park Cemetery with the Reverend Kenny Gardner officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home prior to the service.

He is survived by daughter Rhonda Mayfield of Quinlan, Texas; son Duane Miller and wife Lori of Salado, Texas; sister Virginia Vail and husband Billy; brother Johnny Miller and wife Marsha; brother Jimmy Donahue and wife Lydia, all of Starkville, Mississippi; sister Patricia Turner of Tupelo, Mississippi; grandson Dawson Hall and wife Angel of Grand Prairie, Texas; grandson Michael Mayfield of Quinlan, Texas; granddaughter Maddison Vincent and husband Russell of Terrell, Texas; great-grandson Samuel Vincent and great-granddaughter Mckenzy Vincent; many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; former wife and mother of his children Sandra Kay Miller; and dear friend and companion Melody Renfro of Irving, Texas.

He was preceded in death his parents; sister Faye Miller Corser of Irving, Texas; and former wife Cynthia Jean Miller of Irving, Texas.
