Obituary for Nadine Weaver McCrory

Nadine Elizabeth Weaver McCrory, 96, passed away peacefully at the Long-term Care Center in Eupora, MS on March 4, 2017. A native of Calhoun County, her parents were Arthur Earl Weaver and Mary Velma Lee Weaver.

Survivors include Sharon Davis(Steve)of Starkville, Kathy Lyle(Ken)of Germantown,TN,Ginger Allen(Dennis) of Canton,MS,Dr. John Charles McCrory(Kim)of Brandon,MS, and sister Freda D'Stefano of Madison,MS. She has eight grandchildren: Josh Davis (Jeannie), John Davis (Megan), Jacob Davis, Reid Lyle (Kathryn), Mark Lyle (Katie), Scott Lyle, Sam Lyle, and Audrey Allen Thomas (Ryan). She has nine great-grandchildren: Lydia, Anna Claire, Every, and Lacey Davis, Isabella and Lillian Davis, and Matthew, John and Lila Thomas.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harvey Fred McCrory, son, Harvey Fred McCrory, Jr, sister Virginia Weaver Doss and brothers William (Billy) Daniel Weaver and Arthur Earl Weaver.

Nadine attended Big Creek High School and was salutatorian of her class. She graduated from Mississippi State Charity Hospital in Vicksburg, MS in 1944. She worked in the Vaughn Memorial Hospital, Selma, Alabama as head nurse of the obstetrical floor and Santa Rosa Hospital, San Antonio, Texas on the surgical floor. She was Clinical Instructor at Lubbock General Hospital in Lubbock, Texas, while taking correspondence courses from the University of Texas. She was executive assistant to the administrator and director of nurses at Bryan Hospital, Bryan Texas. She did private duty nursing at Felix Long Memorial Hospital in Starkville and worked in ICU at Rankin General Hospital in Brandon, MS.


Ms. McCrory was director of the nursery at FBC, Starkville for 16 years, an active member of WMU, a charter member of the Starkville Green Thumb Garden Club and a member of DAR.

Her interests included sewing, gardening, quilting, crossword puzzles and reading medical books.

Funeral services will be 11 o'clock, Wednesday, March 08, with visitation beginning at 10 o'clock at Welch Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Memorials may be made to FBC Starkville.
