Mrs. Elaine Fields Bost, 91, of Starkville, MS, passed away at her home in Starkville on Friday, August 7, 2015.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 am on Monday, August 10, 2015, in the sanctuary of Starkville First United Methodist Church, with funeral services beginning at 11 am.
Mrs. Bost was born in Ecru, MS, on July 25, 1924, to Mamie and Charles Fields. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William M. Bost Sr., her daughter, Beth Nix (Mike) of Huntsville, AL, and her son, Larry Bost of Starkville. She is survived by her son, William M. Bost Jr. (Diane) of Vicksburg, MS; Bonnie Lasker (Mike) of Odenville, AL; Steve Bost (Gail) Brentwood, TN; Suzanne Thompson (Gary) of Mound City, KS, and Julie Ferguson (Travis) of Batesville, MS; her sister, Ravena Walden of Oklahoma City, OK; and a host of grand-children, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Elaine was a long-time active member of Starkville First United Methodist Church where she taught her Wesleyan Sunday School class and country line dancing class, was a member of the chancel choir, handbell choir, and served on many committees over the years. In the early 80’s Elaine proudly opened The Good Book Store – a Christian book store located on Starkville’s Main Street. She was also a member of many clubs and civic organizations in Starkville including Jr. Auxiliary and Hospital Auxiliary.
Elaine was an avid bridge player, line dancer, ceramics artist, gardener, quilter, hostess, and pet lover. Her strong faith allowed her to be a spiritual mentor and teacher. Throughout her life she maintained a servant’s heart and enjoyed the friendship and trust of many. Most of all, Elaine loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
