Artis Lee Davis, "Arty"
Artis Lee Davis, "Arty", husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend to all, entered eternal life on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. His spirit is carried on by his three children, Lisa Wolverton(Paul) of Gulfport, MS, Artis Lee Davis, II (Laurie) of Columbus, MS, and Stuart Davis (Adriane) of Starkville, MS. He is also survived by many grandchildren, one great grandson, as well as siblings, Bettye Ruth Shinn(Bud), Judy Lynn Jones, and Charles William Davis, all of Louisville, MS. Artis Lee was preceded in death by his father, John Artis Davis, his mother, Emma Lou Rowzee Davis, and brother, George W. Davis. He leaves behind a large extended family of relatives and friends from every walk of life.

Artis Lee was born to John Artis (Ott) and Emma Lou Davis on July 17, 1942 in Louisville, MS. He was a 1960 graduate of Louisville High School, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Jackson Davis. Their married life together began June 6, 1964. Married for 54 years, Artis Lee and Patricia were blessed with three children; daughter, Lisa and sons Lee and Stuart. His greatest moments were often the deep joy experienced with their children, grandchildren and great grandchild. After gaining the skills of a carpenter, Artis Lee started Davis Construction Company which ran until 2006. Stuart Davis proudly carries on Davis Construction.

Artis Lee gave great thanks to God for all the special times with Patricia, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. He was known for giving them all experiences they wouldn't find anywhere else. His sense of humor and hard-working habits served his family well. He had a deep love for MSU baseball and time at "The Riva", and was a faithful member of Adaton Baptist Church of Starkville. Throughout his life he maintained a light and unique demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. His signature smile and gift of quick wit will forever be held in our memories.

Possessing a truly lively heart, Artis Lee cared for family, friends, and the town of Starkville. As a man of strong will and determined work ethic, his life's work was dedicated to building homes for the residents of Starkville. His faith was evident in his zest for life. Artis Lee loved to grill and host friends and family at his Left Field Lounge trailer for over 30 years.

Artis Lee had a passion for all things maroon and white, fishing, and always working hard. Arty was often referred to as "Mayor of Dudy Noble". He will always be remembered for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his gift of hospitality.
