Obituary for Diane (Sissy) Denman Wolfe

Diane (Sissy) Denman Wolfe
Diane (Sissy) Denman Wolfe, 74, passed away at her home on June 14, 2018, after a short, but intense battle with cancer.

Sissy’s greatest love was her family. She was a loving wife, exceptional mother, extraordinary mother-in-law, and devoted older sister, but more than any other role, she excelled as a grandmother. She was happiest when traveling with Wes, planning and taking family vacations, hosting family events, taking all suggestions under consideration, and being in all ways present for those who loved her. You could always find her supporting and cheering on her children and, more recently, her grandchildren at all their activities, including innumerable Starkville Academy events.

She was employed at Mississippi State University for over 15 years and retired as the Director of Admissions. Prior to working at MSU, she was the guidance counselor at Starkville Academy and a teacher at Strider Academy. She was a former board member at Starkville Academy. She also enjoyed her regular bridge groups and cooking for and hosting social events.

Sissy was preceded in death by her parents Stuart and Joyce Hewlett Denman of Charleston, Mississippi. She is survived by Wes Wolfe, her husband of 54 years, and by two children Michael Wolfe (Mindy) and Joy Wolfe Graves (Lawson), all of Starkville. She also leaves the lights of her life, her four grandchildren Grant and William Wolfe and Thomas and Piper Graves. She is also survived by two sisters; Marijo Denman Cox of Hernando, Mississippi, and Betty G. Ehlinger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19, from 12:00 – 2:00 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville. A service will follow at 2:00 in the Welch Funeral Home chapel.

The family requests that memorials be made to Starkville Academy, 505 Academy Road, Starkville, Mississippi 39759.
