Obituary for Dr. Sheldon Scott Kohn

Dr. Sheldon Scott  Kohn
Dr. Sheldon Scott Kohn, 61, passed away suddenly in the home of his grandmother on July 29,2019. He was born on April 1, 1958, in Starkville to Ellen Winfield Kohn and late Lonnie Kohn. He was the grandson of Tom and Lillian Winfield.

He graduated from Starkville High in 1975. He earned degrees from several universities and his Ph. D. in English from Georgia State in Atlanta. He was well known for the many articles he had published in journals and books. He was a loved professor and teaching was what he thoroughly enjoyed. He will be greatly missed and leaves many students and friends behind to miss him.

He and his wife, Irina, taught at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi for the last ten years. He wanted to return to Starkville and was hired to begin teaching at Miss. State beginning August 13, but God had other plans for him. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, friend. He was very kind and compassionate , soft spoken. He loved God, his family, friends and animals especially loved dogs.
He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Irina Kohn, son, Nick Kohn of London, England,
mother, Ellen Winfield Kendall, step father, Bob Kendall, of Starkville, brothers Bryan
(Emelyn) Kohn of Huntsville, Al., David(Carolyn) of Spring Hill, Fl. neices, Britani Kohn, Peoria, Az, Rachel Kohn, Huntsville, Al. nephew, Adam Kohn of Huntsville, Al.

Memorial services will be at 1 P.M on August 11, 2019 at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville. The Visitation will follow the service. Graveside services will be private for family.
