Obituary for George Jeffrey "Jeff" Self

George Jeffrey "Jeff" Self
On August 2, 2021, beloved son and father, George Jeffery "Jeff" Self, age 62, passed away into God's graces after a brief illness. Jeff is survived by many loving individuals, including his mother, Deen Jeffries Self of Starkville and his daughter, Morgan Elizabeth Self of Flowood, MS. Besides his mother and daughter, he is survived by his many aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, George M. Self, an infant brother,
paternal grandparents, D.O. and Edna Self and maternal grandparents, Marvin and Doris Jeffries. Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman and always enjoyed spending time out on the lake, in the woods, or in the garden. Jeff was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and not expect anything in return. He worked his entire life with his mother in her local flooring business and was considered by many to be the best at his craft.

A special thank you to all those who attended to Jeff during his final days: Allen Edwards, Donna Lott, Pat Long, and especially Bobby and Ann Betts.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday August 5, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, and then again on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Morgan will conduct the service.

Pallbearers are: Bobby Betts, Brad Aldridge, Drew Jackson, John Jackson, Derrick Brumfield and Drew Harrell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: a favorite charity or Baptist Infusion Center.
