Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jesse E. Brown can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Jesse E.  "Downtown"  Brown
Jesse E. "Downtown" Brown, 45, passed away on July 26, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was owner of JEBS Barber Shop. He was a very distinguished self taught musician, playing saxophone, piano and best known for playing the harmonica, which he won State Champion in the State Fair. He played with Greg "Fingers" Taylor, who is best known for his work with Jimmy Buffet and also played with many famous blues artists. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce A. Brown; and grandparents, Claude and Vivian Brown and Edward and Bonnie Gober.

He is survived by his daughter, Olivia Brown; son, Saxton Brown, both of Mathiston, MS; father, Edwin Earl Brown of Maben, MS; sister, Bonnie Fulgham (Wayne); brother Justin Brown both of Mathiston, MS; and a host of nephews and one great nephew.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 29, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Maben, MS, with the funeral service on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Maben. Rev. Shawn Nygard and Rev. Tommy Temple will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Maben.
