Obituary for Jimmy Scott Freshour

Jimmy Scott Freshour

Jimmy Scott Freshour, age 47, gained his heavenly wings on March 27, 2020 after an acute hospitalization. He was born to Shirley and Kelyse Freshour on December 7, 1972 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Freshour, of 26 years. He also leaves behind three wonderful children, Brittne Mann of Starkville, Jessica (Jeremy) Huckaba of Starkville, and Hunter Freshour of Starkville; one grandchild Dylan Sage Phelps of Starkville; one nephew Joshua (Tabitha) Medders of Louisville, MS; siblings, Shelia Freshour of Starkville, and Randy Freshour of Ackerman; mother, Shirley Edwards of Ackerman; mother-in-law, Brenda Bishop of Ackerman, and many beloved great nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Kelyse Freshour, stepfather, Clovis Neal, father-in-law, Donald Bishop, niece, Katilyn Medders, and both maternal as well as paternal grandparents.

Scott was a lifelong resident of Starkville, MS and graduated from Starkville High School in 1992. He pursued a lifelong career as a culinary artist. He was always known for his loving and caring nature. It has been said many times that he was never seen without a smile on his face. In his younger days, he was also known as “the life of the party” and lived bigger than life.

Scott enjoyed all things outdoors, sports of any kind, wine making, creating culinary works of art, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. His family was the most important and joyous part of his life. He never failed to tell anyone how proud he was of how his life turned out. He was an avid Mississippi State fan. He enjoyed coaching his daughters, son and nephew’s softball, baseball, and football teams. He was the ideal father and husband everyone was envious to have.

A memorial service to honor the life of Scott will be announced at a later date due to the nationwide pandemic.
